In Loving Memory
"Ik Onkar — Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh"
In Loving Memory of
Gurdev Singh Dhaliwal
June 20, 1939 – December 5, 2025
With acceptance of Hukam (the Divine Will), our family announces the passing of Gurdev Singh Dhaliwal, who peacefully departed his physical body on December 5th, 2025, at home with his loved ones by his side. He has now reunited with his beloved wife, late Manjit Kaur Dhaliwal, and his youngest son, late Lakhbir Singh Dhaliwal, embracing them once again in Waheguru's eternal light. A devoted father to Jorawar Singh, Jasbir Singh, Harman Kaur, and late Lakhbir Singh, and the proud grandfather of nine beautiful grandchildren, Gurdev's blessings shaped three generations and will continue to guide our family forever.
His soul now continues its journey toward union with Waheguru, leaving behind a lifetime of devotion, strength, and service.
Born in Phulewala, Bathinda, Punjab, Gurdev lived a life grounded in deep faith, humility, and spiritual resilience. In 1972, at the age of 33, he immigrated to Canada with very few belongings but unwavering trust in Waheguru and in the dignity of honest labor. His life became a living expression of Kirat Karo, as he worked tirelessly from the moment he arrived in Canada until the very end of his life.
He embodied Vand Chakko and Sarbat da Bhala, always sharing what he had and helping anyone in need—supporting his children and their spouses, guiding his grandchildren, and extending generosity to all. Gurdev lived the Sikh principle of seeing the Divine in every soul.
He practiced Naam Japna, keeping Waheguru's name close to his heart throughout his life. Even in difficult times, he carried a gentle smile and never allowed his loved ones to worry about his pain. His home—and his heart—were always open. His acts of sewa (selfless service) were countless, offered through his words, his hands, and his unwavering presence.
Though his earthly journey has ended, the atma (soul) does not die. As Guru Granth Sahib teaches:
"Jo upjai so binas hai, pario aan na koi."
(All that is born shall pass, yet the soul returns to its eternal Home.)
We take comfort in knowing that Gurdev Singh has entered Mokh Du-aar, the gateway of liberation, merging back with the eternal light of Waheguru.
May his memory inspire us to live with compassion, courage, and devotion—just as he did.
