He is immortalized through memory as a jovial, fearless, and encouraging soul. The youngest of six children, even in adulthood he is remembered as a beam of light in our family. His many roles within our close-knit family unit were unlimited, and spanned Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, and Grand-Uncle. All roles by which he made a lasting impact, and bonds that will remain unfazed by the passage of time.
A sophisticated, and intelligent man, who sought a new beginning in Canada in the year 1984. Within the same year, he boldly broke barriers being the only turbaned Sikh man at Bramalea Secondary School in Brampton, Ontario where he sought to complete the secondary schooling that he had begun whilst back home in Punjab. Being that he was a well-spoken and charismatic individual, he gained admission to school, as well as a senior role at the Toronto Sun newspaper with ease, foregoing all otherwise required formalities.
His diverse education spans Computer Science, Mortgage and Finance, and the realm of the Law. His charisma naturally led him to host a radio show with his brother that commenced on Vaisakhi in 1999. This was a chance for the broader community to become acquainted with his witty sense of conversing, whether it be a humorous or political subject, he never shied away from raising the
important questions. This was only the beginning of his role as an active member of the community and he went on to become involved with organizational aspects of the Punjab Mela, Punjab Sports Club, various political campaigns, and other events to bring the community together. His grateful, and kind nature also drove him to assist many newcomers from Punjab in their move to Canada. He encouraged them to pursue an education, advised them on familial and financial matters, and even lovingly opened up his own home to those that he connected with.
In May 18 th , 1992, he was married to Balrajinder Kaur in an Anand Karaj that took place in Vancouver, Canada. Being an adventurous soul, he traveled with his wife to Hawaii following their marriage, a moment that set the tone for their lives together as a couple that has traveled the globe and experienced many unique moments together.
On May 3 rd , 1995 he became a father for the first time to a most responsible, and respectable Heena Kaur Grewal, who is a practising lawyer with gratitude to his powerful guidance. On July 29 th , 1998 he became a father for the second time to a loving, and precious Anmol Kaur Grewal, who is a medical nurse, with gratitude to his caring nature. On April 8 th , 2005 he became a father for the third time to a blessed, and strong, Jaanveer Singh Grewal who is completing his studies in science, and is a celebrated
athlete owing to his disciplined mind, and clever nature fostered by his late Father. Together with his wife Balrajinder Kaur Grewal, he has given our family these children as priceless jewels that we will be holding very close to our hearts as they, together with our entire family, and the community at large mourn this unfathomable loss that can never be replaced.
Sardar Gurinder Paul Singh Grewal Ji will always be with us in spirit, and his light will always illuminate every space he ever laughed, danced, and orated within.
